Every piece of Pompy furniture starts with an idea, the inspiration for which can come from nearly anything—architecture, a painting, nature. Many times, as is the case with this project, that inspiration is an intimate collaboration with our customers.

While some of the pieces we built for this home office, the Arlington Table Desk, The Mt. Abraham Desk Shelf, even the soon-to-be-launched Troy Task Lamp, were existing Pompy designs, a number of the pieces represent custom collaborations with our client.

For this project, we made the first "low-back" Westmore Lounge Chair. A relatively minor adaptation of our existing design wherein we lowered the back of the chair and cushion by about 8 inches.

The first Arlington Credenza was designed as an extension of the popular Arlington Table Desk design language. This particular piece featured extra depth to accommodate the client’s need for additional storage, and for “hiding” a large laser printer.

Perhaps the pièce de résistance of this home office transformation was the heavily modified Averill Room Divider. Pulling obvious inspiration from the Averill, this piece was custom developed to sit perfectly against the room's pitched roofline while also adding storage at the bottom to match the height of the desk nested behind it.

To get this piece just right, our designer and one builder went on-site to take exact measurements. The final design and build required a custom full-sized template, precision mitering, and even some minor on-site assembly as the final piece had to be made in two parts to navigate the stairway to the 3rd-floor office.
The result is genuinely transformative to the aesthetic and function of the space. As is always the case, it was more than worth the time, care, and collaboration with the client.

All Pompy home and office furniture is built from sustainably-sourced rough sawn lumber. Our Rough Mill then cuts, planes, and squares the lumber to exacting specifications before bundling and passing off to our Assembly team.

The assembly department is made up of highly skilled builders, many with decades of experience building Pompy furniture. They build each handcrafted chair, credenza, desk, and dining table to the unique specifications of every order. From hundreds of designs and effectively infinite configurations, this team produces a singular level of quality and craft.

This team cuts, sews, does the final assembly and inspection of every fully-upholstered piece of furniture and every cushion we make. They work with hundreds of fabrics and leathers, each requiring different tolerances for elasticity, color, and patterning. The results speak for themselves. Pompy upholstered furniture is of unmatched quality and durability.

Our finishing team takes every assembled piece, sands, applies its signature Pompy finish, setup (including the installation of all doors, drawers, and hardware like knobs and pulls), and a final inspection. This team checks every corner, surface, and spec to ensure it meets our standards.

Most Pompy furniture comes fully assembled. And being made from solid hardwood, our furniture is generally meaningfully more substantial (and more durable), than mass-produced alternatives. For this reason, we employ our own internal delivery team for 80+% of all deliveries across much of the east coast. Our white-glove service carefully wraps, transports, and delivers into your home. In some cases, they may even do some minor on-site assembly where needed.
