Several months ago our client contacted our Pompy Design team to help transform his home office. In his words, it "just [was] not a very inspiring space to get work done." He asked for an office… "Elevated."
Several months ago our client contacted our Pompy Design team to help transform his home office. In his words, it "just [was] not a very inspiring space to get work done." He asked for an office… "Elevated."
In part one of our series, we documented our discovery process, starting as an online virtual design consultation. It was through this virtual tour of his space that we endeavored to capture not just how the space should function, but how he’d like it to make him feel.

Next, we presented our plan, complete with 2D and 3D floor planning, product recommendations, and even a couple of bespoke pieces custom-designed for his unique needs. This process even helped to inspire some brand new Pompy products, the Mt. Abraham Desk Shelf and Fully Charged integrated power solutions that we just launched to all customers this month.

After a collaborative process to fine-tune each piece, selecting wood, light fixtures, floor, and wall treatments, we moved on to what defines Pompy more than perhaps anything else we do... our Craft. We’re builders; creating beautiful, functional, forever furniture from sustainably sourced materials in our Thetford, Vermont workshop.

In the client's original space, you were greeted with cables and clutter; the client shared that when he should have been feeling inspired, instead, he entered his office with a feeling of anxiety.

The transformation is truly breathtaking. Every inch was thoughtfully designed and executed. The client tells us that instead of dread, he now enters his office with a relaxed excitement.

The client's original space was a single shade of boring. Haphazard attempts to create separation from the wider area never worked. Ultimately it exposed nests of cables, disorganized clutter, challenging backlight, monitor glare, and faced the client toward the very distractions he was attempting to separate himself from.

Using bold color, a dramatic wall treatment, a statement light fixture from Hubbardton Forge, a beautiful hand-knotted area rug from Inner Asia, and of course stunning handcrafted Pompy furniture, we created a space that’s carved out from the larger area. This is a space that’s both visually stunning and impressively functional.

The before state of this home office, as the customer stated, "was always a carelessly thrown together place to get some work done." It lacked the function he desired and the feeling he needed to be inspired and productive.

Today the space is "more than I ever imagined it could be." With a thoughtful layout, we were able to achieve the customer's desire for a primary work area, causal reading nook, and enclosed storage.

Modern offices need modern power solutions. Our new Fully Charged in-surface power options together with the new Mt. Abraham Desk Shelf in native Maple give the customer all the power he needed in a way that’s both discrete and convenient.

The custom-made Arlington Credenza in black walnut gives the client the storage he needed, all contained in a piece that’s part of the perfect zoom backdrop.

The piece, however, that truly defines the space is the bespoke room divider. Inspired by our Averill Room Divider, but custom-built to follow the pitch of the roof. This piece also featured ample storage in 4 push-to-open drawers that have the added benefit of nesting the client's Arlington Table Desk neatly behind it. With open pass-through shelving on top, the piece created functional separation without closing the space off entirely.
The piece, however, that truly defines the space is the bespoke room divider. Inspired by our Averill Room Divider, but custom-built to follow the pitch of the roof.
